Forget about professional in-house treatment which costs hundred to thousands of dollars. Crest Whitestrips delivers comparable results at a fraction of the cost!

I was contemplating on professional teeth whitening treatment when my friend convinced me to try Whitestrips from Crest. I was skeptical initially as I thought how could a USD34.99 product deliver comparable results to a USD500 professional whitening by the dentist. Boy was I proven wrong.

There are a few different types of Whitestrips to choose from depending on how quickly you want the results, I got the Crest WhiteStrips Pro Effects which contains 40 strips as the Crest website claims that you are able to see results after 3 days and professional-level whitening in 10.

You are supposed to apply the strips twice a day and leave them on for 30mins per application. I stopped using it for twice a day after the first day as I noticed slight tooth sensitivity - akin to the sensation that you get when you bite into an ice-cream. So for the next 3 days, I only used it once a day and I have to say that the results are truly amazing! 

I was so satisfied after the fourth day that I stopped using it.

Tips on application:

The application can be very messy as your saliva reacts with the film strips to create a gooey substance. To prevent that from happening, here’s what I did:

1. First place the strips onto your teeth, pressing down to ensure maximum surface contact. To prevent tooth sensitivity, avoid placing the strips onto your gums.
2. Then suck the air from the back of your teeth, kinda of like when you are trying remove a stuck food particle from your teeth.
3. If the strip is longer than your teeth, fold the excess portion onto the back of your teeth.
4. Then place a piece of cotton pad onto your upper teeth and fold it onto the back of your teeth, repeat for the bottom teeth then bite down on cotton pads lightly. The cotton pads will ensure that your strips stay put and prevent your saliva from reaching your teeth.
5. Remove after 30mins.
6. To prolong the effects, refrain from drinking tea or coffee immediately after the application.

If the above steps are too tedious to follow, you may consider getting the new Crest Whitestrips Advanced Seal which are formulated to instantly mold and adhere to teeth. I didn’t manage to try it as it wasn’t available then. If you’ve tried it, do leave a comment to let us know if it worked well.
